Marc Chagall(1887-1985) is one of the greatest artists who typified the 20th century. The dazzling lithographs "Circus"(all 38 works) will be showed in 3 special exhibition series. You enjoy lithographs with music boxes' sound. Please have a luxurious time at museum.

Exhibition of the Art of Chagall and
Cylinder Music Boxes

You can enjoy music played by wonderful cylinder boxes. And also we play very old cylinder boxes which were made 170 years ago. Those old special music boxes made such a graceful sound which is quite different from the sound made by modern music boxes.

The collectors opened their house to the public. And then, our museum was started a quarter of century ago. During this term, we will show their first collection and some of the best collections which play excellent music.

Exhibition of the Art of Chagall and
Disc Music Boxes

Chagall’s words "I do not like nihilism. Human existence is certainly dark and full of sorrow, but through love, art transforms sorrow into joy, just like Giotto does in his paintings or Mozart in his music."
We play many pieces of music by Mozart on Disc music boxes and you can enjoy the powerful bass and grace notes.

In the 19th century, Music boxes were popular among people's daily life

People living about 100years ago used music boxes for listening to music just like we use CDs nowadays; we exhibit the music boxes that were used in the home and the music boxes which were set into chairs or photo albums. And also the music boxes that were on show in the show window of shops.

Paris in the 19th century, Automata and their time
The 19th century was the age of agitation in France

Automata were made in the 19th century and they appear to be living that time. Pretty French girls are wearing the latest fashion from that time. Acrobat dolls clown dolls and exotic dolls which were made about 100 years ago are waiting to perform for you.
