Amazing Cylinder music boxes Exhibition

Is this a music box’s music?? It’s amazing! How delicate and gorgeous the music they are playing! We exhibit Cylinder music boxes which have more than 100 tones or change their tune, piano and forte playing. This is the first exhibition of a piano forte music box which has only one comb.

Best hits music form 19th century

Music boxes were very popular as the musical reproducing devices of the 19th century. We play some of the most popular music from that time in the counting down form. We play cylinder music boxes, disc music boxes and automatic organ etc. They were the best selling machines 100 years ago. The best hits are still popular and famous today. Can you guess what they are?

Toko and Disc music boxes

You can enjoy art and music by music boxes at the same time. Toko Shinoda (1913− ) is a famous modern artist in the world. She draws novel abstract paintings using Sumi (Chinese ink). Please enjoy the music boxes which were made by several makers. We exhibit 3 different types of shifting disc music boxes which are very rare.

Music boxes with dolls. Music boxes with bells and drums playing or organ music. Music boxes with jewel cases. Music boxes with photo album. We exhibit music boxes that have something else other than music.

*We prepare homework (free studies) kits for school children. We prepare some pages notes which have our exhibition’s guide line. You fill up the notes and stick photos which you take or we sell.

The Golden Age at Automata
(Museum Course)

Automata which were made in the 19th century were very artistic so that people call the 19th century the golden age of automata. Once they start to play they will fascinate you. Pretty girls or clowns, acrobats and animals. We exhibit about 30 automata in full operation.

We exhibit music boxes which play Christmas music and things connected Christmas.

You can enjoy the Charismas Carol Concert at our usual fee.

Special Christmas Concert (with tea)

Your will be surrounded by music that was played 100 years ago. The Concert with some explanation takes about 1 hour. After that you can enjoy having tea time while listening to the music. You will be satisfied emotionally and eruditely.
